| 3. Reproduction of a photographic copy of a
daguerreotype or cabinet image of some sort, labeled 'Gielow, my great, great
grandparents. He had a farm in Manitawalk (sic: Manitowoc) Wisconsin' in Auntie Boo's
handwriting. A close examination of the high-resolution image shows that the
man is not old, but toothless, which ages him. The note continues,
"Sophia Gielow lived to be 88 years old and Christian lived to be 76.
Sophias father lived to be 90 and her mother to be 95." We have a copy
of a religious certificate for Alma Christine Loeffel which identifies her parents
as "August Leoffel" and "Mina Gilow Loeffel". The parents of Mina ("Minnie?") Gilow
are named therein as "Christian and Sophie Gilow"
Is this possibly Christian
Carl Friedrich Samuel Gielow, b 25 JAN 1830 Zettemin, Pommern, Preussen?
to Jacob Friedrich Gielow and Sophie Caroline Wulff Gielow? I have not been able
(yet at least) to confirm immigration records ... |

parents', in Auntie Boo's handwriting. Auntie Boo notes 'I don't know about
the Loeffels. He was a brewer and was paid to fight in the civil war.
She is the fortune teller." In the 1960's, Nanna gave me a deck of 36
cards that supposetry belonged to her. |

Great Grandfather Loeffel in image 6?
In the 1880 census of Chicago, Cook, Illinois. at the time, she is shown
as 30 and born in Prussia. They are shown as having two
daughters: Ida, 10 and Alma, 13; information below

August Loeffel appears in the 1880 Census of Chicago, Cook, Illinois. At
the time, he states his age as 64, which places his birth year as 1816. At
the same census, he is shown as married to Minnie Loeffel, which confirms the
